Jay is one bad-ass bass player!
Jay Dronge, the newest member of JJ & The Detonators, took a twisting path to be here
in Texas. Jay was born in Los Angeles, but moved to Idaho, Washington State, Alaska,
and New Orleans, before finally landing in Dallas in November of 2004, just nine months
before hurricane Katrina hit, and his former home was wiped out. Jay feels that he has
found a home here because of the wide diversity, and rich musical camaraderie here.
During the first four months, or so, Jay got into as many jams he could to get his name
out, and establish the reputation that he now enjoys as one of the top bass guitar players
in the area. During that time he met Jerry Clark, a quick friendship ensued, and Jay was
quickly asked to join Steven Springer and Big George Brock Jr. in The Detonators. In
addition to his incredible guitar skills, Jay also contributes with arraigning and singing
back-up vocals with a keen talent for harmonizing. He has also brought more '70s R&B,
and funk influence to the Detonators,
